I’ve heard the words “Brace yourself!”, not only in other people’s prophetic words, but also my own prayer time. These words can conjure up at least two mental pictures.
The first would be to react out of fear. To brace oneself in this measure would be like someone in a fiercely windy storm. Their fearful way of bracing themself would be to grab onto the nearest pole and cling for dear life. They would be using their own strength to hang on, hoping that they make it through.
The second picture is one of faith. Imagine a soldier fully armored, feet shod and PLANTED in the Rock of Salvation, Jesus Christ. They face the storm, trusting that where they have braced themself is their greatest Surety. Their whole body is free to be on the offensive against the real rival, Satan.
In the beginning of August, I got a picture of an armored warrior facing a great and windy storm. The warrior’s feet were braced. His shield was up. His sword was ready.
“No longer run from the heat of the battle
No longer find shelter from the raging of the storm. STAND.”
God desires His people to stand firm, trust that our Rock is a solid place to put our feet. He wants us to stop being fearful of temporal things.
Jesus says in Luke 12:4-5:
“And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear Him who, after He has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, fear Him!”
Let’s be spiritually and eternally minded. Let the world rage. Face the enemy with courage and boldness. Stand firm. Stand in peace. Recognize any fear as from the devil and cast it down with the Word.
Imagine His whole army doing this!
“…and having done all to stand. Stand…”
